An estate made for gathering
The main house is organised around two staircases and two connected wings. On one side: the kitchen, the dining room with its big table where everyone dines together, a living room with fireplace and 4 bedrooms, 2 of them opening one into the other. On the other: a second living room, a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms. Two staircases, two wings, and everyone finds their own rhythm without leaving the house.
A few steps away in the park, a separate pavilion forms one large bedroom over two levels: a double bed and bathroom on the ground floor, two single beds upstairs.
In total: 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms sleeping up to 16 guests. Hotel-quality bedding, linens provided, a utility room with washing machine and dryer, and those small details that make all the difference: coffee and essentials on arrival, board games, a library..
Pool and relaxation
A large heated pool (5x11 m) at the heart of the park, open from late April to early October and secured with safety barriers. To stretch the evenings out: an outdoor hot tub, open in every season.
Sun loungers, a shaded terrace and garden furniture complete the relaxation area.
Activities for everyone
Outdoors: amateur tennis court, pétanque court, ping-pong table, children's playground (swings, slide), plancha barbecue.
Indoors: pool table, board games, library, dedicated children's corner.
Hiking trails and cycling paths connecting to the Loire à Vélo route are accessible directly from the house. The Château de Sully-sur-Loire is 20 minutes away.

The Orléans Loire Valley and the forest of Orléans
Montereau is a commune in the canton of Lorris, in the Loiret, and the forest of Orléans covers close to half of it: 2,364 wooded hectares out of the commune's 5,012. The Bonnée rises here, on the edge of the massif and at the gates of the Gâtinais. Paris is 1h15 by car, and 1h10 by train from Gare de Bercy to Nogent-sur-Vernisson, 13 minutes from the house.
The forest of Orléans starts at the end of the grounds
The state forest of Orléans is the largest in metropolitan France: some 35,000 hectares of state forest within a wooded whole of around 50,000, in an arc some sixty kilometres long from Orléans to Gien, in three massifs (Orléans, Ingrannes and Lorris). It is the Lorris massif that borders the property, with its thousand ponds and pools. The GR 3 B enters it a few minutes away, between century-old oaks and still water, and both the walking trails and the cycle paths start from the house. This is a forest for walking rather than climbing: flat, shaded, doable with children and with a dog.
The UNESCO Loire Valley starts at Sully
The Loire Valley has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 30 November 2000, between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes-sur-Loire: the house sits just above the upstream marker of that perimeter, on the side the coaches have not reached. The château de Sully, a medieval fortress on the riverbank, guards the entrance, and the Loire à Vélo route passes at its closest 12 minutes away. Downstream, the Carolingian oratory of Germigny-des-Prés holds a 9th-century Byzantine mosaic unique in France, and the château-musée de Gien, a Renaissance house above the river, keeps its collections of faience and hunting art. On the far bank the Sologne begins, with its ponds and its high forest.
Two Michelin-listed tables and the faience of Gien
The Loiret is as much eaten as visited. The Auberge des Templiers is 15 minutes away and Côté Jardin 20, both in the Michelin guide, which makes two dinners to book before you arrive. Day to day, La Campagne is 5 minutes out for generous home cooking and Le Chalut 8 for something plainer. And at Gien the faience works have been turning since 1821: it is what you take home from here when you are not taking forest honey.
Which house for a weekend in the Loiret
The estate gathers three buildings in wooded grounds: 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 16 beds, which places it among our villas where fifteen people sleep without a folding bed and among our large houses 1h15 from Paris. The heated 5 by 11 metre pool, open from late April to early October, puts it in our countryside houses with a pool; the outdoor hot tub, for its part, runs in every season, as in our houses where the evening ends in hot water. The tennis court is inside the grounds, which only two of our houses where you can play tennis can say. The fireplace in the main sitting room makes it a house to book for Christmas and New Year, and dogs are welcome at 45 € per animal, as in our other countryside houses the dog comes to as well.
